"bren sends his regards" is such a crazy way to tell astrid what's going on. maximum amount of info delivered in the shortest way possible. hey astrid, it's me, essek. caleb sicced me after your conniving ass cause he's too busy to schedule you in. the NERVE of calling him bren to astrid's face. hello astrid. it's me, essek. do you miss bren? have you ever known caleb? a dead boy asked me to find you. you're a single bullet point on his to-do list. do you regret any of this? successor, usurper, does it matter? you're just like ikithon, no matter what you think you are. you are still just like him. bren sends his regards. he didn't care to come here himself. antimagic. pinned to a wall. essek's outright disdain towards her. Do you ever think about how not all of the dragons may be the same age as the main riders? Because we know dragons grow quickly, and Valka pointed out that Hiccup and Toothless are the same age (which helps them get along so much better)

But the dragons for the other riders could all be different ages, because what are the odds of them all being the same age? Not to mention that we don't know how long all of the other dragons were kept in the arena cages before they were finally free and able to connect to the others.

So, I was trying to think about how old the other dragons could be, and it's entirely up for play... personalities also clearly range a lot, but I think it would be fun if Meatlug was a little bit of an old soul, but not quite enough that she's ready for Vanheim anytime soon. She still gets a good deal of time with Fishlegs, and enjoys finally getting to spend those years with someone who pampers her so much.

Barf and Belch could be younger, more easily persuaded by Ruff and Tuff's antics, and so much more willing to jump into that chaos. They're not too fresh into dragon term adulthood, but they're still pretty young.

Stormfly and Hookfang were a little more difficult to me, but with how much they look after other dragons, as well as their interactions with Astrid and Snotlout, I like to think that Hookfang is just a little bit younger than Snotlout. I was also playing around with him being older, but I think I'm settling with the few years younger. Stormfly, on the other hand, is a little bit older, or about the same age as Astrid.

Again, this is entirely up for people to play around with, and this is just what I've settled with... but it's definitely fun to think about!

i still think about hiccup’s “you have me no matter what. Whatever that means, whatever you want it to mean. I am with you” part of his speech to Astrid. The way he’s letting Astrid decide what the direction of their relationship is gonna be. Whether it still be platonic or going forward to a romantic relationship, Hiccup is still gonna be with her no matter what.

Like for me that is so special 🥺 cus what if Astrid chose to stay platonic with him (although we all know that wouldn’t happen). Hiccup is still gonna be with her, cause there will always be Hiccup and Astrid. All the way through 🥺

man can I just say how adorable Wolf's interaction with Delia in the wedding scene is? When she's explaining her situation he gives her the most understanding looks and it's because they both effectively had the same cause of death. Delia turned her mourning of Charles into part of her performance art, and died from being scammed with asps who were NOT defanged. Wolf wanted to deliver the most authentic performance possible and died from presumably a negligent armorer who didn't bother to check if the grenade was live or not before shooting. both of them were quite literally killed by their art (not by their own faults to be fair but from someone else's irresponsibility). and it's kind of lovely Delia got such a sympathetic escort back to the netherworld who knows her situation firsthand probably better than anyone else

it's weirdly wholesome and empathetic even as their situations were both played for morbid laughs, and if Delia didn't have eyes only for Charles (what's left of him) and Wolf wasn't in a committed relationship with Janet I'd even say I could have seen things going somewhere between them

Extremely torn whenever canon deals with Caleb’s past relationships because whenever the cast discusses them there’s a weird fixation on Astrid, and then I have to be torn because on one hand it’s “fuck yeah!!! Astrid!!! I love Astrid!!!” But on the other hand it’s “where’s Eadwulf!!! Stop ignoring Eadwulf!!! He’s also important and under-discussed!!!”

Something I love about the hijack dynamic is that they are so similar in specific ways. Particularly that they both are thrill seekers who care immensely about other people but have very little self preservation. So they are constantly trying to keep the other safe while doing ridiculously dangerous stuff themselves. And of course when they combine their chaos braincells together Queen Astrid is there to knock them upside the head and (hopefully) impart some sense.

Also, Hello! First art post! Admired a lot of amazing artists on here and have always wanted to learn how to draw and join in! So hi here’s a WIP
